Why One Reseller Is Going All In On Vintage NFT’s
Whether you like it or not, NFTs, crypto, blockchain is everywhere. It’s inescapable. People are most certainly invested in NFTs for the money, but there are also people who genuinely want to do some cool stuff with the platform. We recently heard of a Vintage NFT project so we spoke with Alex Comfortes (@VintageDAO), who believes the future of vintage tees lies on the blockchain.
Alex: “I think this is historic for the vintage community. I’ve seen accessories and some individual NFT projects but not necessarily what we are doing. This is really a landmark for the community, and I think that this DAO will change things for vintage. Essentially, a DAO is a voting block of users that are community-centered around particular initiatives and shared missions through by sharing resource in the form of a coin”.
NFT- Your NFT is your membership to the DAO. The NFT in this case is a 64×64 pixel artwork inspired by popular vintage t shirts. Shirts included are the genie tee, the world cup thunder tee, a Donkey Kong tee and some others.
So, explain what you have been working on?
“I’ve been doing crypto for 5 years and buying and selling vintage for almost as long. I’ve also been pretty plugged in on both for different factors- fashion, and community”.
What’s the utility in the NFT’s?
“Preliminary utility is a discounted rate for brands associated with vintage. We are in talks with different vintage dealers to work out discounted rates of pricing on drops. Also, we have some in person events planned over summer where we will have vintage dealers, and the entire community get involved for a festival like event.
The long-term vision of the vintage DAO is to establish a retail location where members of the DAO can send their items to our brick-and-mortar shop for sale”.
How long did you work on the idea?
“I’ve been working on the project for about 4-5 months. But we just launched the NFT in February”.
Where do you believe the intersection between fashion/vintage/blockchain exist?
“Verification is the first thing that comes to mind and organization of community. That’s not necessarily blockchain but through discord”.
Has it received steady traction?
“We sold 36 vintage punks’ Mint price is .1 or $300 + some gas fees. And if you want to mint one just go to www.vintagepunks.com. You do have to be on Chrome”!
The future of NFTs is a very interesting one, and nobody really knows for sure how it will work out. What do y’all think? Is Alex correct? Does the future of vintage lie on the blockchain and NFTs? Let us know in the comments!
