Pre-owned Vintage Sonic Youth SISTER T-Shirt – RARE – Richard Avedon photo

I bought this shirt November 10, 1988, when Sonic Youth played The Town Pump in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I put it on over the shirt I was wearing, and before the opening act (Screaming Trees) played, Thurston told me they only made a few as a middle finger to photographer Richard Avedon, who was threatening to sue them for using his image (from his “In The American West” project) on the cover of Sister.

I wore this shirt many times but always took good care of my rock shirts. Since I haven’t worn it in thirty years, it’s time for it to find a new home. For its age, it’s in great shape. There’s a bit of the expected yellowing in the armpits and collar. And the seams on the inside of the sleeves have a few stiches that have come undone – you should be able to get an idea of it from the photos.
